Bio

Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Grant moved with his family to Georgetown, Texas in 1993. From the time he was old enough to sit up and hold 2 Hot Wheels cars, he was racing. He attended his first race at the age of 6 at Longhorn Speedway in Austin, TX, and it's been his passion ever since. As he got older, he raced his bicycle at Central Texas tracks including 281 Speedway in Stephenville, TX, Bellmead and Heart O' Texas Speedways near Waco, TX and Texas Thunder Speedway in Killeen, TX, where he got his first win in racing. By age 9 he earned enough to buy his first go cart and he set up a track in the pasture. He later bought another cart so he could race with his brothers. He even set up makeshift grandstands and had his mother flag the races.

Grant took excellent care of his go carts, learning the value of preventive maintenance, making repairs and honing his emerging skills as a mechanic. He continued to attend races at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, TX, Texas Thunder Speedway and Heart O' Texas Speedway. When his family started buying season tickets to Texas Motor Speedway, he was there every time they held races. He got to see his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, win there for the first time. He also got to see Greg Biffle clinch his Craftsman Truck Series title and saw William Byron win there on the way to his title.

Grant's first job was with O'Reilly's Auto Parts. He then worked as a mechanic at a diesel performance shop before returning to O'Reilly's as Commercial Sales Manager. He is now a technician with Will's Automotive in Round Rock.

Grant got his first race car when he beefed up his Crown Victoria for drag racing. Soon after, though, he began planning and saving to build his first dirt track car. In late 2016 he dropped off an old 1982 Monte Carlo at Destroyer Chassis, where Darryl Campbell built his factory stock car. From there, Grant took his car to Allard Racing Engines for his engine. Grant's first race was February 25, 2017 at Kennedale Speedway Park. Since then, he has raced at 281, RPM, Big O, Superbowl, Abilene, Grayson County, I-37, Monarch, Texana, Chatham, Buffalo Creek, and 105 Speedways. He ran for points at 281 Speedway in 2017 and finished 5th in a partial season. ran for points in 2019 at Heart O' Texas Speedway and Cotton Bowl Speedway in 2019, finishing 3rd at HOT and 5th at CBS in a partial season. He raced at HOT for points again in 2020 and finished 5th. That totals 5 top 5 finishes in 4 seasons at 3 different tracks!

Career Highlights

In 2017, Grant won 2 feature races and earned 6 top 5 finishes and 11 top 10's out of 17 races in his rookie season. He finished 5th in points in the Factory Stock class at 281 Speedway in Stephenville, Texas.

Grant got his first win of 2018 on March 31 at 281 Speedway in Stephenville, TX, part of a streak of 3 wins in 12 races and 6 finishes of second or better out of 7 races.

2019 was an eventful season, with a rollover, blown engine and blown transmission. Despite that he finished 3rd in points at Heart O' Texas Speedway in Waco and 5th at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, TX.

In 2020 Grant held 2nd or third place in points all season until mechanical failures in 3 successive August races dropped him to 5th in the final standings.
